Interim Controller (3-6 Month Engagement)

Position Overview
Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is currently seeking an experienced Interim Controller to join a dynamic manufacturing organization in Irvine, CA. This highly visible leadership role will oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions while providing hands-on guidance to a large accounting team during a critical transition period.
The ideal candidate possesses deep manufacturing industry expertise, significant experience working within large ERP environments, and a proven track record managing sizeable accounting organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cost accounting.
- Oversee and develop a team of 8+ direct reports, fostering accountability and operational excellence.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting.
- Support executive leadership with financial analysis and operational insights.
- Drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and manufacturing leadership to improve financial visibility and performance.
- Manage audit support and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Assess accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and scalability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
- Previous experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong large ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Demonstrated success leading teams with 8+ direct reports.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and change management skills.
- Ability to quickly assess issues and implement practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
- Mid-sized to large manufacturing company background.
- Cost accounting and inventory accounting expertise.
- ERP implementations, upgrades, or optimization projects.
- Experience managing through periods of growth, transition, or transformation.
Compensation
Competitive hourly or project-based compensation commensurate with experience. Pay range is $75-$85 per hour.
Ideal Candidate Profile
A hands-on manufacturing Controller who can immediately step into a leadership role, manage a large accounting team, navigate a sophisticated ERP environment, and provide stability during a 3-6 month engagement while working fully on-site in Irvine.
Work Hours
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
